CounterIntelligence

Counterintelligence (CI) is the information collected and execution to detect and arrest an adversary’s investigation activities or aims to cause deliberately destroy or damage.

The purpose of CI is to ensure data cannot be edited or destroyed by a vulnerable agent and that only would be accessible by authorized users in the organization.

CI is desperately associated with intelligence agencies, government organizations or with the country’s defense industry but businesses also can be secured from adopting CI in their approach towards information security.

Cyber Security says, counterintelligence works to support the data security as inseparable threesome of Confidentiality, Availability, and Integrity (CIA). Many organizations practice part of CI, which are named differently like data loss prevention (DLP), Network Forensics and malware reverse engineering.
